Bio Statement:

Qingwan (Cecelia) Cheng (she/her) grew up in China and received a bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology and Human Development & Computer Science from Boston College. She is now doing data analytics in the technology industry.

Cecelia worked as a research assistant in the Aftermath Learning Lab in her senior year at Boston College. She led the facilitation of design thinking workshops and the development of a textile waste related board game, which is playable, fun, and educational for environmental justice. She found her passion in design thinking and user experience as they always bring in new perspectives. Through the game development process and trainings from Aftermath Learning Lab and MFC, she expanded her knowledge of textile waste problems and environmental injustice and felt how important it was to raise people's awareness.

Cecelia loves the team, culture, and work of Aftermath Learning Lab, so she decided to rejoin the lab as an Assistant Project Manager after graduation. She hopes to provide research assistants with mentorship and continue her work on game-based and other informal learning for environmental justice. She hopes that through her work at Aftermath Learning Lab and as Grant Directors for MFC Tie-Dye Inc., she will create new ways to make learning accessible and influence people to have sustainable lifestyles.

Areas of Focus at MFC:

Cecelia is the Grants Director for MFC, where she helps identify funding opportunities to address critical needs for MFC and The MFI Foundation, complete applications for these opportunities, and assist with grant management. She also serves as the Project Co-Manager of the Aftermath Learning Lab, working to assist with project management, team-building, and contributing to activities that will advance MFC and The MFI Foundation’s mission related to research, art advocacy, and education.
